    ICC Veterinary Nursing Clinical Adjunct Instructor

    Position Time: Approximately 10 hours per week

    Completed primarily during laboratories (Surgery, Anesthesia, Nurse Practices)

    Position Requirements: Credentialed RVT with at least 1 year of veterinary experience

    Position Description:

    The Clinical adjunct instructor responsibilities include (but are not limited to) preparing for, assisting in, and cleaning up from all surgery and anesthesia labs. Surgery lab is in the fall, one day a week from 7:30am-5:30pm and commonly later. Anesthesia lab is in the spring, one day a week from 7:30am-3:30pm and occasionally later. There also may be additional requested dates for special labs such as IV catheter placement, vaccination labs, large animal labs, or other clinical lab sessions.

    Outside lab duties would include but are not limited to; contacting/scheduling clients (with the assistance of the Office practices class in the fall semester and as a stand alone in the spring semester); ensuring students are preparing all necessary materials for labs; ensuring all facilities and equipment are cleaned by students appropriately after labs; and assisting in inventory management by notifying the program director of items that need to be ordered.

    Qualified applicants should be independently able to place IV catheters; monitor and manage patients under anesthesia; have a working knowledge of veterinary physiology and medications; prep and recover surgery patients; be able to assist in and respond to emergency situations; support student learning and clinical skills; and communicate effectively with clients.

    It is also highly encouraged that this position attend or otherwise support program events as well as support program recruitment. The Veterinary Nursing Program hosts several public events each year in conjunction with SCNAVTA (Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Technician Association). ICC also attends numerous high school senior days and hosts visiting students several times a year.
