    Indiana Youth Worker Well-being Project

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and empathetic youth services leader to serve as the inaugural Vice President of Youth Worker Well-being for this transformational project. An employee of Indiana Youth Institute and working with the direction of the coalition of Indiana youth services intermediaries, this position will have responsibility for the management of services, promotions, and related supports including tracking and evaluation of all related performance metrics.

    This person will have a strong understanding of how to empower people, influence colleagues, and work across departments and organizations. They will have the ability to be nimble, flexible, and responsive in a dynamic environment. In addition, they will have demonstrated progress in driving impact toward a complex strategy with clear goals. They must be approachable and highly interested in engaging with youth workers, staff, and leadership to further the field of youth services.

    We are looking to add a VICE PRESIDENT OF YOUTH WORKER WELL-BEING (VPYWW) who:

    • Is passionate about the crucial role that youth workers serve in improving the lives of all Indiana youth,
    • Has the ability to manage change and ambiguity with an action-oriented drive, must thrive in a dynamic environment,
    • Understands and embodies a dedication to operational excellence, with the management skills to juggle a wide range of requests and responsibilities,
    • Loves to learn and approaches work with a good-humored growth mindset, and
    • Is committed to ensuring EQUITABLE OUTCOMES for Indiana’s youth.

    Reporting to IYI’s President & CEO with a dotted line connection to the Coalition of Intermediaries managing committee, the VPYWW will oversee the successful delivery of the Indiana Youth Worker Well-being (YWW) project’s strategy and vision.

    1. Leadership and management: Convene and manage the YWW team, ensuring clarity and accountability on responsibilities in achieving the new project goals. Serving as primary liaison to and strategist with the YWW managing committee. Coach and support team members to achieve their greatest possible impact. Promote an organizational culture committed to equity and anti-racism.

    2. Partnerships and engagement: Strengthen existing partnerships - including with YWW partners and affiliates - and pursue new ones with allies who can advance the field of youth services. Support and foster support for the importance of youth worker wellbeing.

    3. Positioning and thought leadership: Serve as an internal and external spokesperson, expert, and advocate for YWW at conferences, events, and meetings. Effectively communicate the YWW mission, enhancing its voice and visibility amongst the youth services community. Provide thought leadership with like-minded partners.

    4. Systems and operations: Ensure that YWW systems and operations are infrastructurally strong, streamlined, and supportive of YWW’s partnership models with local, regional, and national partners.

    ENGAGEMENT

    This leader reports to IYI’s President and Chief Executive Officer and routinely interacts with the YWW Managing Committee. They also serve as a member of IYI’s leadership team and supervises three team members.

    PREFERABLE KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES (KSA):

    • Minimum of 15 years overall professional experience, ideally in a youth-related field such as youth development, education, child welfare, health, and/or juvenile justice, ideally including 5+ years of executive management experience
    • Master’s degree in a relevant field or commensurate relevant experience
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts in easy-to-understand and transparent ways
    • Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills
    • Solid understanding of business functions including human resources, marketing, finance, and technology
    • Self-motivated with a desire to achieve results
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Comfort and demonstrated experience speaking in front of large and diverse audiences
    • Demonstrated success forging collaborations with local and state organizations
    • Must demonstrate ability to work in and promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our providers, partners, and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.
    • Must have excellent oral, written, and technology-based communication skills.
    • Ability to partner well with colleagues both inside and outside of the organization.
    • Must demonstrate ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects required.

    Travel, Compensation, and Location:

    Travel

    Comfort with significant amounts (up to 50%), largely within the state.

    Compensation

    Salary range for this position is $105,000 - $130,000 with a strong benefits package.

    Location

    As a member of IYI’s leadership team, the VPYWW will attend weekly in-person meetings in Indianapolis along with in person meetings as needed to fulfill the goals of this project.
