    POSITION: Controller

    REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer DEPARTMENT: Accounting

    FLSA: Non-exempt CLASSIFICATION: Full-time position

    COMPENSATION: (commensurate with experience)

    SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    *The candidate(s) must be available to work extended hours as needed.

    THE COMPANY

    Indio Products Inc and affiliates manufactures religious, esoteric and decorative candles for large retailers across the US. Many of our candles are made by master chandlers (candle makers) in our advanced manufacturing facilities in Commerce, California. We sell our candles and other products through a growing nationwide base of over several company-owned retail stores. In addition, the company is expanding into real estate holdings industry with multiple projects being held for development and rental.

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Controller will perform a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks. The Controller will be responsible for preparing GAAP financials, reconciling bank statements, managing the accounts receivable and accounts payables department under the direction of the CFO. A successful Controller should be detail oriented, organized, and familiar with all accounting procedures. Experienced in real estate is a plus.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, fixed assets and accruals for various entities
    • Record merchant accounts transactions daily and reconcile merchant accounts monthly
    • Record cash receipts and bank deposits
    • Review daily cash activity for multiple entities
    • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
    • Maintain records in preparation for future external audit/review
    • Assist CFO with the preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring
    • Prepare monthly sales commission calculations and provide to payroll on a timely basis.
    • Prepare monthly intercompany reconciliations
    • Set up vendor folders with agreements and W9 form prior to issuing payments
    • Respond to all vendor inquiries
    • Generate year-end 1099s and distribute accordingly per deadlines
    • Complete and file business license renewals
    • Reconcile payroll accounts monthly
    • Ensure mortgage and credit card payments are timely made
    • Maintain chart of accounts
    • Perform related duties and special projects as assigned

    EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND EDUCATION

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
    • Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience.
    • Knowledge of Crystal reporting program is a plus.
    • Ability to plan and organize work effectively.
    • Accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and have sound judgement to complete assigned tasks/projects contingent on priority level.
    • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-based organization, with strong interpersonal skills.
    • Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables and V Lookups
