Summary
We are looking for an Industrial Automation Engineer to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary contractor specializing in complex mechanical, electrical, and technology-driven projects.
This role provides hands-on technical leadership for the start-up, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation and control systems. The position works closely with engineering and field teams, supports medium to large projects, and mentors junior technicians while ensuring quality, safety, and reliable system performance.
Responsibilities
Start up, program, commission, and troubleshoot building automation systems
Interpret sequences of operations and implement control logic
Perform point-to-point checkout, device calibration, and QA/QC documentation
Configure controllers, networks, and communication protocols
Upload, modify, and manage control software and system programs
Develop graphics, dashboards, alarms, and trending within supervisory systems
Diagnose and resolve complex HVAC, electrical, and control system issues
Lead project execution on medium to large jobs
Mentor, train, and oversee junior automation technicians
Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field teams
Requirements
4–7 years of hands-on automation or controls field experience
Associate degree in electronics, automation, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Strong knowledge of PLC/DDC programming and control methodologies
Understanding of networking, commissioning, and process controls
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
Knowledge of standard office and database tools preferred
Valid driver’s license and ability to work in construction or industrial environments
