They specialize in the design, installation, and maintenance of high-quality, automated fuel transfer systems that ensure continuous generator operation during power disruptions. From day tanks to header systems and underground/aboveground storage, they deliver customized, cost-effective solutions with a focus on reliability and compliance.
Our client is seeking an Industrial Bid Estimator to join their team. The Industrial Bid Estimator will be responsible for developing accurate and competitive project proposals for fuel transfer systems and associated infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, tanks, pumps, piping, controls, and relevant regulatory codes (NFPA, UL, etc.).
Responsibilities:
Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings to determine scope of work.
Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, equipment, labor, and subcontractors for fuel system projects.
Conduct take-offs and prepare detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Work closely with sales, engineering, and operations teams to develop comprehensive proposals.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain updated pricing and availability.
Ensure all estimates are compliant with relevant codes and standards.
Attend site visits when necessary to assess conditions or gather data.
Provide value engineering options and alternatives to meet client budget goals.
Support bid reviews, hand-offs, and project transitions to operations teams.
Qualifications:
3+ years of estimating experience in mechanical, fuel system, or industrial construction preferred.
Working knowledge of pumps, tanks (UST/AST), piping layouts, and control systems.
Familiarity with fuel oil systems, including day tanks, header systems, and submersible pump setups.
Proficient in estimating software, Excel, and CAD or Bluebeam (preferred).
Ability to read and interpret construction plans, technical specs, and regulatory requirements.
Compensation:
Base salary in the 70k - 100k/year range plus full benefits including 401k, PTO, health benefits, bonus potential.
