Job Description
The position of Industrial Design Product Specialist supports new product innovation, the product development ‘funnel’ and industrial design for projects that transfer to the central product engineering group in the form of technical drawings, material specs and managing product vendor partnerships, as well as manages process and projects for governance, alignment and continuous improvement of our Parent Portfolio of products. Additional scope includes merchandising design assistance, product ergonomic and usability studies, aesthetic and user-interface trend analysis. This person will create and execute design solutions for problems of form, function, marketing and portfolio development.
This role will also need to meet internal creative standards, budgetary guidelines and specific business goals assigned to each project which will stretch the boundaries of design and range from logical problem solving for ease of design and installation to creative execution of thoughtful and original design concepts.
This role is based in Jasper, IN, operating on a hybrid schedule requiring on-site presence 3 days per week. Relocation assistance may be considered.
** Responsibilities**
Lead design projects using effective, process-driven communication to deliver value-added products aligned with manufacturing capabilities
Define project-specific procedures while maintaining adherence to standard development processes
Build strategic relationships with external vendors and coordinate innovation efforts with internal stakeholders, including supply chain and sourcing
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget, and aligned with project scope
Develop and execute communication plans to ensure stakeholders are informed and aligned throughout the project lifecycle
Maintain and track detailed project schedules and timelines to ensure successful product launches through governance and manufacturability alignment teams
Apply industry best practices and standards, considering the competitive landscape throughout execution
Design and coordinate compelling product presentations, including sketches, models, drawings, specifications, prototypes, and vendor documentation
Develop original design concepts and refine purchased parts for company use, ensuring consistency with brand standards
Incorporate feedback and iterate designs as necessary
Support product roadmap ideation and front-end design efforts including problem definition, brainstorming, visualization, and usage data collection
