Thompson First Group is seeking an Industrial Mechanical Electrician for a direct hire role with a local client in Aston, PA.
Candidates that have a background completing PLC troubleshooting and have working in an industrial setting on production and manufacturing equipment are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems, control panels, and production equipment for functionality and safety issues
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, HMIs, PLC-controlled equipment, and power distribution systems
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems to maximize equipment reliability and uptime
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to support troubleshooting and system modifications
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new electrical equipment and system upgrades
- Monitor and maintain electrical compliance with safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and system documentation
- Collaborate with production and operations teams to minimize downtime and improve system performance
- Undertake other electrical and controls-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Maintenance Technician or Industrial Electrician
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and control components (PLCs, VFDs, sensors, motor controls, and HMIs)
- Ability to use electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, voltage testers, etc.)
- Ability to read and follow electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines, including electrical safety and lockout/tagout procedures
- Good communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED); Technical or vocational training in electrical or industrial automation is a plus
- 1–2 years of experience in a food processing or industrial manufacturing environment preferred
- Ability to read, understand, and follow production schedules, SOPs, and safety guidelines
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus
Work Environment:
- Cold temperatures (40°F–48°F) in refrigerated processing areas
- Wet, noisy environment with exposure to raw meat and cleaning chemicals
- Shift work, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Standing for up to 8–10 hours per shift
