    EHC is currently looking for an Industrial Import Coordinator for a client in the south Houston, TX area.

    Summary:

    An Import Coordinator is responsible for managing and overseeing all activities related to the importation of goods into a country. They ensure compliance with relevant regulations, coordinate with suppliers and customs brokers, and handle documentation and logistics to facilitate smooth and timely import processes. This role requires a combination of organizational skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of international trade laws and practices. Import Coordinators work closely with various departments within a company, including purchasing, logistics, and finance, to ensure that imported goods meet quality standards and are delivered efficiently.

    Responsibilities:

    • Handling and processing import documentation such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists
    • Ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements
    • Coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely delivery of goods
    • Tracking and monitoring the status of shipments to ensure they meet delivery schedules
    • Resolving any issues or delays that may arise during the importation process
    • Maintaining accurate records of all import transactions and related documentation
    • Communicating with internal departments to provide updates on import activities and resolve any discrepancies
    • Negotiating freight charges and other logistics-related costs to optimize shipping budgets
    • Assisting in the preparation of import-related reports and presentations
    • Handling inquiries and requests from regulatory authorities related to import shipments
    • Ensuring proper classification and valuation of imported goods for customs clearance
    • Managing relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure quality and reliability

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field
    • Certification in customs brokerage or international trade
    • Prior experience in import coordination or logistics management
    • Proficiency in import/export software and ERP systems
    • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and customs procedures
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple shipments simultaneously
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
    • Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
    • Fluency in multiple languages
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Experience in logistics, supply chain, or import/export operations
    • Knowledge of import documentation and procedures
    • Familiarity with customs regulations and compliance requirements
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Capability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Basic math skills for handling invoices and financial documentation
