We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Mechanic to maintain and repair heavy industrial equipment that supports our sandblasting and painting operations. This includes diesel air compressors, diesel trucks, and media blasting systems. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, be comfortable working both in-shop and in the field, and demonstrate leadership qualities with the ability to grow into a Head of Maintenance position as our company expands. Responsibilities: Equipment Maintenance & Repair • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered equipment, compressors, trucks, blasting machines, and related heavy machinery. • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to maximize equipment reliability. • Help create and follow a routine maintenance program. • Conduct field repairs when equipment cannot be moved to the shop. • Document all work performed following company standards and DOT/state requirements. DOT Compliance & State Documentation • Maintain DOT compliance on all company vehicles and equipment , including trucks, trailers, compressors, and mobile blasting units. • Ensure equipment and vehicles meet all federal DOT requirements as well as state-level compliance regulations. • Assist with DOT laws, paperwork, and filings required by state agencies to keep all equipment legal and roadworthy. • Complete and maintain Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) , mechanic certifications, and compliance logs. • Work with supervisors and managers to ensure timely scheduling of DOT-required inspections and documentation. Parts & Vendor Management • Order required parts and supplies through approved vendors. • Track parts usage and maintain accurate inventory records. • Pick up parts and equipment as necessary to support ongoing repairs. Budgeting & Cost Management • Prepare accurate repair budgets including labor, materials, and outside services. • Track and report repair costs to ensure accountability and efficiency. Collaboration & Teamwork • Work closely with maintenance and operations teams to plan, prioritize, and complete repairs. • Communicate effectively with supervisors and project managers regarding equipment status and timelines. • Support a team culture that emphasizes safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Leadership & Growth Potential • Follow structured maintenance processes to ensure consistent results. • Mentor less experienced mechanics and assist with training when needed. • Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to step into supervisory roles. • Develop into a Head of Maintenance role as the company grows. Qualifications: • 3+ years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic in heavy equipment, industrial, or construction environments. • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, compressors, hydraulics, and blasting equipment. • Proven ability to diagnose and repair equipment both in-shop and in the field. • Familiarity with DOT and state compliance requirements. • Experience with DOT documentation, including inspections, repair logs, and paperwork required by state and federal authorities. • Ability to prepare and track repair budgets. • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred). • OSHA or related safety certifications preferred. Work Environment • A combination of shop, field, and jobsite work. • Exposure to noisy, dusty, and industrial environments. • May require lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces. Compensation: $45,000 - $67,500 yearly based on experience
