  • Responsibilities

    Thompson First Group is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for contract-to-hire positions with a local client.

    Responsibilities:

      • Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on manufacturing equipment and facility systems.
      • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
      • Install, maintain, and modify machinery, production equipment, piping systems, and electrical infrastructure.
      • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and maintenance emergencies to minimize production interruptions.
      • Support equipment upgrades, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
      • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation.
      • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history.
      • Perform routine facility maintenance, including repairs to HVAC systems, air compressors, lighting, fans, and building infrastructure.
      • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, Safety, and other cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.
      • Move, position, and install manufacturing equipment as needed.
      • Follow established maintenance procedures and safety practices while identifying root causes and corrective actions.

    Qualifications

      • High school diploma or GED required; technical training, trade school certification, or related education preferred.
      • Minimum of five (5) years of industrial maintenance experience; ten (10) years preferred.
      • Experience maintaining and repairing manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
      • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
      • Proven troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
      • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and engineering drawings
      • Experience using hand tools, power tools, machine tools, and precision measuring equipment.
      • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accurate documentation practices.
      • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Fabrication, welding, and machining experience preferred.
      • Ability to work overtime, including short-notice overtime, as business needs require.
      • Team members must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, frequently use hands and tools, bend, kneel, reach, balance, and occasionally climb as needed to perform maintenance activities.
      • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 30 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. continuously.
      • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving machinery, noise, varying temperatures, and conditions that may not be climate-controlled.
      • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safely perform essential job functions.

    Shift:

    • 1st Shift: 7 am to 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday
