Industrial Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician is a critical role responsible for the reliability and safety of our galvanizing facility. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems—including cranes, forklifts, and galvanizing line components. Your goal is to ensure peak operational efficiency, minimize downtime, and uphold the highest safety standards in a heavy industrial environment.
Responsibilities
Core Maintenance & Repairs
Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Repair or replace motors, bearings, belts, gearboxes, valves, and drives.
Maintain specialized equipment including kettles, burners, hoists, conveyors, and heat systems.
Ensure forklifts and other shop machinery are in safe, working order.
Troubleshooting & Preventative Care
Diagnose equipment failures and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
Address emergency breakdowns quickly to minimize production interruptions.
Execute scheduled preventative maintenance and maintain detailed inspection logs and records.
Facility & Safety
Maintain plant lighting, electrical panels, plumbing, and air lines.
Strictly adhere to OSHA regulations and company safety policies, including consistent PPE use.
Assist with facility upgrades, equipment installations, and fabrication projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications in Industrial Maintenance or Electrical Systems highly preferred.
Experience: 5+ years in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (Steel/Galvanizing experience is a major plus).
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
Proficiency in basic welding, cutting, and metal fabrication.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the discipline to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Environment: Must be comfortable working in a hot, loud, and dusty industrial setting near heavy machinery and galvanizing kettles.
Physicality: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
Schedule: Flexibility to work nights, weekends, or overtime based on production demands.
