The Purchasing Agent role is a non-managerial support position responsible for the purchasing of goods for resale from various suppliers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Purchasing Agent position is responsible for the following:
o Learning and following the purchasing standard operating procedures. o Amending the procedures as needed and with the approval of management. o Purchasing goods for resale as required by orders. o Ensuring that orders have been properly paid for and cleared before purchasing. o Ensuring that goods purchased meet the requirements of their respective orders. o Communicating with vendors to arrange purchases and delivery of goods. o Evaluating suppliers by considering price, quality, availability and other requirements. o Negotiating with suppliers to obtain the best possible prices on goods. o Maintaining accurate records of purchases, invoices, statements and receipts.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Order Management and Communication This position must ensure the proper communication of any issues of concern, changes, delivery and other factors with the sales team so that they can work with the customer as needed.
• Additional duties as may be assigned by company management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS • Strong oral and written communication skills. • Judgement and decision-making abilities. • Microsoft Excel, and other similar software packages. • Excellent computer skills. • Strong Math Skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS • Prior company or similar industry experience. • Prior purchasing experience. • macOS and iOS experience. • QuickBooks
ADDITIONAL NOTES This is a money handling position and as such, employees in this position must be of strong character and professional in their handling of money.
This position is prohibited from communicating directly with customers for security and operational reasons. This position must also be able to be objective when making purchasing decisions.
Purchasing is a support position reporting to three managers for different areas, the person in this position must be able to handle multiple sources of directional authority.
