  • Responsibilities

    Thompson First Group is seeking an Industrial Mechanical Electrician for a direct hire role with a local client in Delaware City, DE.

     

    Candidates that have a background completing PLC troubleshooting and have working in an industrial setting on production and manufacturing equipment are encouraged to apply. 


    Key Responsibilities

    Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

    • Perform routine and emergency electrical maintenance on all production equipment and systems (e.g., packaging machines, conveyors, HVAC systems, and control panels).
    • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical faults in machinery and equipment, including motors, drives, sensors, relays, and PLCs.
    • Ensure electrical systems are operating within specified voltage, current, and safety parameters.


    Preventive Maintenance:

    • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical equipment to reduce downtime and increase equipment lifespan.
    • Maintain an up-to-date record of maintenance activities, work orders, and repairs.
    • System Upgrades & Modifications:Assist in the installation and commissioning of new electrical systems or upgrades to existing equipment.
    • Work with the engineering team to improve and modify electrical systems to optimize performance.


    Safety & Compliance:

    • Ensure all work adheres to industry safety standards, electrical codes, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) regulations.
    • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols when performing maintenance tasks.
    • Participate in safety training and contribute to a safety-first environment.


    Collaboration & Support:

    • Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve electrical issues that may impact production schedules.
    • Provide technical support and training to other maintenance staff or production employees as needed.
    • Assist in the diagnosis and resolution of mechanical and pneumatic issues where electrical systems may be involved.


    Documentation & Reporting:

    • Complete and maintain detailed maintenance logs, service records, and equipment specifications.
    • Monitor inventory levels of electrical parts and supplies and communicate needs to the Maintenance Supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Education:High school diploma or equivalent;
    • Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred.


    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical packaging experience a plus).
    • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical circuits, controls, and PLC systems

    Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of electrical theory, controls, and industrial automation systems.
    • Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or equivalent).
    • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
    • Knowledge of industry safety standards, including OSHA regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
    • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and techniques.


    Certifications(Preferred):

    • Electrical or Industrial Maintenance certification (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Certified Maintenance Technician).
    • Knowledge of GMP and FDA regulations for the pharmaceutical industry is a plus


    Shift:

    • 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
    • 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
    • Rotates every other week between shifts.

    $86,000 per year
