    WASTEWATER / ANAEROBIC DIGESTION PLANT MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

    M - F | 9 - 10 hrs. a day with paid OT - annual bonuses and employer paid benefits.

    ROLE DESCRIPTION

    CLIENT is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our Wastewater (WW) plant in Jessup, MD. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting services. They will maintain the facilities electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems to ensure continuous system workflow and operations. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager at in Jessup, Maryland.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Plan and complete all regular and unscheduled maintenance activities

    • Participate in preventive maintenance for plant equipment, machinery, and related facilities; identify equipment maintenance needs; record mechanical equipment readings; ensure accuracy of records kept.

    • Perform routine mechanical, electrical, welding, or machining maintenance activities on equipment including lubrication, inspection, and replacement parts; order and maintain stock levels of lubricants used in plant equipment.

    • Maintain records of plant function readings and equipment history; maintain preventative maintenance records and schedules.

    • Diagnose, troubleshoot, update and repair malfunctioning plant equipment; maintain, repair and overhaul treatment plant equipment including aeration blowers, barminutors, pumps and motors, compressors, belt press, valves, drive units, hydraulic control units, chlorinators, chemical feeders, pneumatic equipment, and hydraulic pressure systems.

    • Participate in the installation of wastewater treatment plant equipment; participate in making modifications to equipment for maximum treatment process performance.

    • Maintain efficient records on operations and activities; maintain plant safety records; maintain and record shipping and receiving of parcels

    • Ensure and adhere to safe work practices and procedures

    • Interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and diagrams for a variety of wastewater systems.

    • Operate a variety of heavy equipment including loaders, backhoe, bull dozers, cranes, forklifts, and graders as necessary.

    • Assist with maintenance of the SCADA system and instrumentation as necessary.

    • Participate in special projects as assigned.

    • Perform related duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS | EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a Mechanical, Process or Electrical Engineering bias

    • Possess a Technical Certification or Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or similar. Preferably a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.

    • Experience with all aspects of an Anaerobic Digestion Plant or other similar process plant environment, such as landfill and wastewater.

    • Computer literacy in Microsoft is essential. Must be able to complete spreadsheets, reports, emails and operate the SCADA control system

    • Excellent communication skills and collaborative manner

    • Effective problem-solving ability

    • Ability to troubleshoot and identify faults at plant is crucial, including basic electrical faults.

    • Proven ability to manage small team of Service Engineers

    • Experience in producing and following Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment documents

    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

    • Ability and willingness to travel to plants and stay as needed

    • Live within a commutable distance to Jessup, Maryland

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Mobility to stand, sit, walk, stoop, twist, bend, climb ladders, crawl, balance, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds.
