Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Quality Inspector to join our client’s team in Newport, DE. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in quality inspection within a machine shop environment, possess a deep understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and demonstrate the ability to work independently with initiative.
Responsibilities:
- Perform quality inspections of machined components and products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances.
- Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, applying knowledge of GD&T principles to understand geometric controls and tolerancing requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections to identify surface defects, imperfections, and deviations from quality standards, documenting findings and communicating with production teams as needed.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues, provide feedback on inspection results, and recommend corrective actions to improve processes and product quality.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection results, including measurements, observations, and non-conformance reports, ensuring compliance with quality documentation requirements.
- Follow established quality procedures and protocols, adhering to safety guidelines and best practices to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in quality inspection within a machine shop environment is required.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T symbols, and applying GD&T principles to dimensional inspection.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately measure and assess component dimensions and tolerances using a variety of inspection tools and equipment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate inspection findings and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, and take initiative to address quality issues proactively.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and inspection methodologies is preferred.
- Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and other advanced metrology equipment is a plus.
Work Environment: Our facility is equipped with modern amenities, including heating and air conditioning. Additionally, they are in the process of building a spacious 1,200 sqft. break room to enhance the overall comfort and well-being of our team.
