What You'll Do
As an Infant Teacher, you will help provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for babies during one of the most important stages of their development.
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing loving, attentive care throughout the day
Responding appropriately to each infant's individual needs and cues
Supporting feeding, diapering, sleeping, and daily routines
Holding, comforting, talking, singing, and engaging with infants
Supporting infants as they develop movement, coordination, communication, and independence
Providing age-appropriate Montessori experiences and activities
Encouraging tummy time, movement, exploration, and sensory experiences
Maintaining a clean, organized, and peaceful classroom
Following safe sleep, health, and sanitation practices
Maintaining appropriate supervision and teacher-to-child ratios
Communicating respectfully and professionally with parents and families
Recording daily information and communicating important updates about each child
Working collaboratively with your teaching team
Following California licensing requirements and school policies
Participating in staff meetings and professional development
Qualifications
Applicants should meet California licensing requirements for an Infant Teacher position and be able to provide documentation of their education and experience.
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience working with infants and young children in a licensed childcare center, preschool, infant program, family childcare home, nanny setting, Early Head Start, or similar setting
Completion of required Early Childhood Education (ECE) coursework or willingness to complete required coursework
Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification
Knowledge of infant development, age-appropriate activities, and responsive caregiving
Understanding of safe sleep practices, sanitation, and basic health and safety procedures
Ability to maintain appropriate supervision and teacher-to-child ratios
Ability to communicate professionally with families and coworkers
Dependable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
A genuine interest in early childhood education and Montessori philosophy
Montessori Experience Is a Plus — But Not Required
