    Job Description

    The Market Analyst is responsible for the production of high-quality market and competitive analyses across a broad range of medical device product markets. Core objectives include conducting secondary research to create disease and technology overviews, a discussion of current and emerging products including clinical trial research, competitive analyses of the leading suppliers’ sales and market shares, and five-year market forecasts for each product type with a detailed discussion of trends affecting market growth. The Market Analyst is also responsible for responding to clients’ Ask the Analyst requests and working with other groups such as Medtech Insight on collaborative projects.

    ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

    WRITTEN ANALYSIS

    ·         Monitor news sources, company press releases, and earnings announcements to stay abreast of competitors’ product development and sales drivers/limiters, as well as to identify key trends within product markets.

    ·         Author insightful and well-supported analysis, including disease overview (including epidemiological data), detailed product and technology discussion for current and emerging products, and in-depth market and competitive analyses with a discussion of factors affecting market growth. Incorporate tables and graphs for each data set. All writing must be in clear and concise business English.

    ·         Consistently use house writing and formatting style without prompting from project manager.

    ·         Incorporate feedback on writing style/structure from project managers, the editorial team, and peer review.

    CONTENT PUBLICATION

    ·         Prepare report components in various formats (Word, PDF, and Excel) and upload them to the website using an authoring tool.

    ·         Complete post-publication steps such as notifying clients and colleagues, updating workflow spreadsheets, and uploading chapters to a shared drive.

    TIME MANAGEMENT

    ·         Use knowledge gained from previous projects to scope ongoing projects/updates with minimal input from project manager.

    ·         Produce high quality content within timelines specified by the project manager and alert the project manager of any expected delays.

    ·         Demonstrate ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritize content appropriately.

    CLIENT SUPPORT

    ·         Apply knowledge of the medical device market research from MDT reports to provide highest quality data and support to clients via the Ask the Analyst service with assistance from the project manager where necessary.

    ·         Defend analysis on published written content with minimal guidance from senior team members.

    ·         Confidently explain research and forecasting methodologies, and discuss the rationale behind key assumptions.

    TEAM SUPPORT

    ·         Learn roles and responsibilities of team and overall organizational structure of MDT Reports, Medtech Insight, and the Pharma Intelligence vertical.

    ·         Attend role-specific training workshops as requested.

    ·         Provide peer review for colleagues’ reports prior to publication.

    ·         Support team during absences, eg responding to client requests via the Ask the Analyst service.

    ·         Network with colleagues in other parts of the business, to support sales/marketing/consulting processes where required.

    ·         Engage in collaborative working environment and support team members by sharing relevant knowledge/providing advice on optimal methodologies during team meetings.

    ·         Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences/Biomedical sciences is preferred, but other degrees will be considered
    • At least 1-2 years’ experience as an analyst at a pharmaceutical/biotech company or healthcare consulting/research firm
    • Previous experience in market forecasting
    • Previous experience in analyzing Cardiology markets is preferred but not required
    • Excellent written and verbal English skills
    • Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy
    • Experience of collecting and curating quality data from multiple sources to produce robust and defendable conclusions
    • Good organizational and time management skills, and the flexibility to work on multiple projects concurrently
    • Ability to think critically, work independently while adhering to a schedule, and follow instructions
    • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
