JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the day to day environmental, health & safety operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists and counsels managers, safety council members and area coordinators.
· Evaluates the work environment from the stand point of ergonomics, machine guarding, and any other applicable regulations.
· Conducts/assists in AUDITS, ACCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS, AND TREND ANALYSIS.
· Leads/participates in cross functional teams for EHS issue resolution or for new EQUIPMENT/PROCESS APPROVAL.
· Provides consultation and assists with initiatives related to EHS projects and programs to include, but not limited to: maintaining PLANT'S HAZARD COMMUNICATION PLAN, OSHA INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE, HEARING CONSERVATION & RESPIRATOR TRAINING PROGRAMS AND OTHER PROGRAMS as required by local law.
· Supports corporate and insurance carrier studies.
· Assists in development of chemically safe work practices, revision of lockout/tag-out procedures, confined space/permit program and, process safety rule procedures.
· Meets requirements for emergency medical response for blood borne pathogens.
· Conducts SAFETY AUDITS, SUPPORTS INSPECTIONS & MAINTAINS OSHA DOCUMENTATION.
· MANAGES AND INSPECTS HAZARDOUS WASTE HANDLING to comply with laws.
· Completes documentation in compliance with RCRA & DOT.
· Assists in finding dispositions for off-spec or recyclable materials.
· Responsible for auditing and monitoring Plant compliance with & updates employees regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety laws and coordinates federal storm water discharge permit.
· Responsible for complying with local laws related to handling, maintenance, and disposal of hazardous waste within a location and performing audits/inspections related to the handling of hazardous waste.
· Maintains Plant clean-air permits and complies with all reporting requirements under RCRA, SARA Title III Sections 312 and 313.
· Acts as technical resource at plant level for questions regarding the TRANSPORTATION OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS & SPILLS.
· Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Typically reports to Management. Direct supervisor job title(s) typically include: Facilities Manager or EHS Manager
· Job is NOT directly responsible for managing other employees (e.g., hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
· Working knowledge of plant-related OSHA, RCRA, CERCLA, SARA, DOT, FDA/EPA, & CGMPS REGULATIONS.
· Strong technical and excellent communication skills.
· Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and Powerpoint) and e-mail skills required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· BACHELOR'S DEGREE REQUIRED.
· Degree in chemistry / biology, engineering or related field.
· Minimum of five (5) YEARS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED IN A RELATED MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT.
