Come help us redefine the future of healthcare. With a history of transformation over the last 50 years, Humana is once again transforming itself using a startup approach. The commitment of the Edge startup is to unlock seniors’ potential to live healthy, vibrant lives. The Marketing team drives the vision for consumer engagement focusing on physical touchpoints, brand, and communications, while informing plan products, digital experiences, and clinical services.

The UX Researcher initiates, designs, and executes research approaches to understand Edge consumers, as inputs to strategic decision-making and design of Edge offerings. This role presents the incredibly unique opportunity to build and evolve the journey and experience of our consumers from the ground up. We are looking for individuals who are purpose-driven to improve seniors’ whole health and help them live their best lives.

The UX Researcher will lead and support multi-disciplinary teams, generating consumer insight to support a rapid-iteration human-centered design approach to creating Edge solutions and strategies. This includes framing consumer problems and hypotheses, planning and execution of both exploratory and evaluative research studies, synthesizing insights and disparate points of view, facilitating working sessions to uncover ideas and insights, making them tangible through designed artifacts, socializing insights broadly, and supporting their application across multi-disciplinary teams. You will work alongside others on the Edge Marketing team to support and evolve our Consumer Insights + Experience practice, contributing to foundational activities which will become core to our process and approach.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE INCLUDE: • Liaising directly with Edge’s UX Design + Product teams to define the consumer experience research and strategy agenda, identify and prioritize research questions and hypotheses related to digital solutions, define and execute research approaches, analyze and synthesize research insights, share and activate implications in design and development of digital solutions • Designing approaches to learn from consumers, using mixed methods—including qualitative and quantitative, primary and secondary sources—to rapidly gather insight, feedback and data analysis • Identifying and activating critical insights processes, tools, and partners • Engaging existing insights and analytics resources within and beyond the Edge to mine the wealth of data and insight across the Humana organization • Effectively project managing requirements across multiple engagements with a consultative approach to leading and contributing to work • Leading and inspiring cross-functional teams to explore and understand our consumers’ experiences and needs, uncovering meaningful human-centered insights that drive exceptional design • Sharing stories of our consumers and communicating consumer needs, principles, and designs through artifacts, presentations, and prototypes to inform Edge offerings so that they can be developed with integrity over time • Identifying opportunities for EDGE solutions, services, and experiences which meet consumer needs in distinctive ways • Applying rapid prototyping and testing approaches to understand consumer desirability of Edge offerings, proving out ideas and course-correcting; supporting cross-functional teams to test offerings through in-market experiments and pilots • Enabling and advocating for consumer empathy across the Edge team through ongoing immersion with consumers in the field, in the lab, and through other channels • Serving as an advocate, representing the user voice in all contributions to the Edge business and offering throughout the development process

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE: • Passionate about a vision to change the trajectory of senior health in America • Curious, empathetic, and human-centered • Radically committed to the consumer • Committed to servant leadership and the development of colleagues across the Edge • Comfortable with ambiguity and experimentation, nimble • Driven to rapidly explore, develop, and deliver insights and ideas • Collaborative and consultative across multi-disciplinary teams, both internal and external to an organization • A lateral synthetic thinker who can integrate new points of view • Self-driven, self-initiating, and accountable with time, resources, and relationships • A problem-solver with a growth mindset; willing to jump in and figure it out, whatever the problem • Authentic, confident, balancing experience with a willingness to learn • An exceptional and compassionate communicator • Unafraid of challenging the status quo

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's degree • 8+ years’ experience in UX research and design, lean start-up, rapid prototyping and testing approaches • 3+ years’ experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver digital products • Success in contributing to development of disruptive new market offerings, as demonstrated by a strong design/innovation portfolio • Experience with a variety of research methodologies, e.g. field research or ethnography, IDIs, co-creation and prototyping, engaging users remotely, survey design and analysis, concept testing, usability studies • Excellent communication and facilitation skills • Experience with human-centered design, design thinking, rapid-iteration/lean start-up practices and tools
