    Summary of Position:

    We are seeking a strategic, highly experienced Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of our Azure cloud infrastructure and Microsoft ecosystem. This individual will ensure the security, health, scalability, and documentation of all infrastructure components, while serving as the technical authority on core services including Microsoft Defender, Backup, Management Groups, Azure Policy, and other foundational dependencies.

    The Infrastructure Architect will work cross-functionally with Security, DevOps, Data, and Engineering teams to maintain a resilient and performant cloud environment that supports our mission-critical applications. This role requires deep hands-on knowledge of Azure, strong architectural instincts, and a proactive approach to infrastructure governance, automation, and operational excellence.

    As part of a fast-paced startup environment, the candidate must be comfortable wearing many hats, taking initiative, and stepping outside of traditional role boundaries to meet the needs of the business. The ability to thrive in ambiguity, roll up sleeves, and execute alongside the team is critical to success in this position. This is a key role for ensuring the scalability, security, and efficiency of Abax Health's internal technology ecosystem.

    Infrastructure Architecture & Operations:

    • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable Azure architectures using Microsoft best practices.
    • Oversee all Azure resources, subscriptions, resource groups, networking, identity, storage, compute, monitoring, and cost management.
    • Manage Azure Management Groups and Policies to enforce governance, compliance, and cost controls.
    • Architect and maintain infrastructure diagrams, configuration documentation, asset inventories, and disaster recovery plans.
    • Evaluate performance metrics and conduct regular health checks of all infrastructure components.
    • Oversee implementation and monitoring of backup strategies, including Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery.

    Security & Compliance:

    • Lead the integration and optimization of Microsoft Defender (for Endpoint, Cloud, Identity, etc.) across the environment.
    • Ensure continuous compliance with internal security policies and external regulatory standards.
    • Configure and maintain role-based access control (RBAC), identity governance, and conditional access within Microsoft Entra ID.
    • Collaborate with security teams to implement threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response processes. **

    Cloud Platform Ownership:

    • ****Own the lifecycle of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions using Bicep, ARM templates, or Terraform.
    • Partner with DevOps teams to support CI/CD workflows and environment provisioning through Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
    • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell or Azure CLI for routine maintenance, monitoring, and reporting tasks. **

    Documentation & Diagramming:

    • Develop and maintain comprehensive architectural diagrams, network maps, and solution blueprints using tools like Microsoft Visio or Lucidchart.
    • Create infrastructure documentation for engineering handoffs, audits, and internal training purposes.
    • Track infrastructure changes through version control and maintain a change log for all environment updates.

    Cross-Functional Leadership:

    • Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to align infrastructure with business goals.
    • Act as a technical mentor to internal teams and contribute to cloud competency development across the organization.
    • Participate in incident response, RCA reviews, and capacity planning meetings.

    Required Technical Skills:

    • Deep expertise in Azure services: Virtual Machines, Azure Kubernetes Service, Networking, Load Balancers, App Services, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Azure Monitor, etc.
    • Proven experience with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and identity governance solutions.
    • Strong command of Microsoft Defender Suite, Azure Backup, Azure Policy, Management Groups, and Compliance Center.
    • Fluency in PowerShell and Azure CLI scripting for infrastructure automation.
    • Experience with diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) and documentation platforms (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint).
    • Familiarity with IaC tools like ARM/Bicep/Terraform.
    • Knowledge of cost management and budgeting in Azure environments.

    Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
    • 5+ years of experience designing and managing complex cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Azure
    • 3+ years in an infrastructure architect or senior engineering role
    • Microsoft Certifications such as:
      • Azure Solutions Architect Expert
      • Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect
      • Microsoft Certified: Entra Identity and Access Administrator
    • Experience with hybrid environments and on-prem to cloud migrations
    • Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture principles
