    Job Description

    Job Summary: Meets departmental goals and maximizes printer productivity and quality through interaction with the Supervisor and Production Lead, Production Specialist, Printer Operators, Maintenance Department, and IT. Ensures that operational procedures are being followed and troubleshoots issues as needed. Oversees the effective cross-over between shifts at the printers, assist with training, and along with the Production Lead and Supervisor, assist with staffing decisions based on operator strengths and weaknesses.

    Essential Duties:

    • Maintains technical knowledge of printing equipment, including printers and pre/post equipment
    • Ensures that printers are producing the highest quality product based on LS’s quality standards.
    • Ensures all equipment in the printing area are running within specifications of the manufacturer
    • Works to maximize printer productivity by diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, makes repairs and adjustments as needed, coordinates service and maintenance with the LS Maintenance Department, Manufacturer’s Technicians and IT when needed.
    • Ability to operate all equipment used in the production of books blocks
    • Performs, or assists in performing, more difficult Equipment Operator tasks, including, but not limited to: roll changes; thread-to-aligns; alterations in web width; calibration/alignment or print quality reviews; print head replacement; and changeovers to 3-Up or 2-Up.
    • Assists the Production Lead and Specialist by monitoring work at the printers and provide equipment status updates for equipment issues.
    • Trains associates properly and ensures they are following operational procedures and maintenance of the printers and finishing equipment
    • Makes service calls and be the point of contact for replies.
    • Maintains current knowledge of all manufacturers’ operating manuals and guidelines for equipment use and maintenance.
    • Monitors and coordinates Printer Operator maintenance of print and finishing equipment, to ensure compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
    • Confirms that all daily and shift maintenance items necessary for the successful operation of the Printing Department’s equipment have occurred
    • Collects shift performance data and completes end of shift report and pass down.
    • Works with Production Specialist and Receiving Specialist to coordinate paper types for each printer are available and staged for daily production.
    • Maintains knowledge and understanding of the workflow in other areas of the Production Department
    • Works to meet daily departmental goals through interaction with the leadership team
    • Coordinates associates with the leadership team to maximize printer productivity by shifting labor according to workload. __
    • Ensures proper crossover between shifts regarding the printing area
    • Maintains printer area cleanliness and organization
    • Coordinates with leadership regarding break/lunch schedules and workflow.
    • Works with LS Maintenance Department to maintain equipment PM schedule
    • Monitors associate performance and provides feedback to the associate, Production Lead and Supervisor

    Education and Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • 1 year digital printing experience

    Essential Physical Demands

    • Ability to walk and stand continuously during the assigned shift.
    • Ability to lift/carry in full range of motion up to 50 lbs. during the assigned shift – up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
    • Ability to push/pull in a manufacturing environment up to 50 lbs to push during the assigned shift – up to 40 lbs frequently and up to 50 occasionally.
    • Ability to grip/grasp continuously during the assigned shift.
    • Ability to bend, kneel/squat, twist/turn, reach above shoulder, and type/keyboard frequently during the assigned shift.
    • Ability to work designated 12 hour shift including overtime as required.

    Additional Information

    C Shift: Sunday-Tuesday, every other Saturday 07:00PM-07:00AM
