    JOB TITLE: Human Resources Intern

    DEPARTMENT: Human Resources

    REPORTS TO: Chief People Officer

    STATUS: Nonexempt

     

    1. JOB SUMMARY

    The Human Resources Intern will provide direct and technical support to the Human Resources department. The Human Resources Intern will gain a unique opportunity to discover strategies for real-world application of academic theories learned in the course of studying the field of Human Resources, as well as gain the skills and experience necessary to prepare the student for a successful career.

    1. DUTIES

     

    This job description is not totally inclusive of all the job functions required of the Human Resources Intern. An employee assigned to this role may have additional, job-related duties.

            ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

    • Maintain a knowledgeable understanding of Human Resource policies, programs, plans, and initiatives, assists with researching new policies
    • Assist the HR team with day-to-day operations
    • Assist the Talent Acquisition team with recruitment activities by utilizing iA’s Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to initiate and document relevant recruiting and onboarding information
    • Surface critical issues and prepare recommendations for enhancements or changes to HR procedures and practices
    • Provide administrative support as needed

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Human Resources Intern will not have any supervisory responsibilities.

    SYSTEMS USED: 

    HARDWARE – Laptop/desktop computer, printer, copier, scanner, plotter, fax machine, telephone, cell phone, and calculator

    SOFTWARE – Microsoft Office Suite & Project, ERP System, Smartsheets, other as necessary

    1. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    • Undergraduate student majoring in: Human Resources, or related field
    • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
    • Ability to respond to changing situations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Attention to detail and high organization skills
    • High proficiency with computer programs
    • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills

    PREFERRED SKILLS 

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
    • Ability to work independently
    • Results driven

     

    1. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Prolonged periods of computer-based work
    • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
    • Ability to travel as necessary

     

    1. WORK SCHEDULE & REQUIRED AVAILABILITY

     

    This is a nonexempt, hourly position. The intern will work core business hours, 8 am – 5 pm, Monday-Friday.
