We are seeking a WordPress Developer to join our interactive team! Our company and this job is located in Indianapolis, IN. This is marked as a hybrid role with the expectation that this developer will be on-site for at least three days each week. Some weeks will be busier than others with collaborative work or deadlines requiring more than three days in the office.

As a WordPress Developer at INNOVATIVE, you’ll get to work on both the front-end and back-end of existing and new web projects utilizing the WordPress platform. You will use your deep knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to help on the front-end. On the back-end, you get to showcase your PHP and MySQL expertise. More specifically, you’ll get to utilize your:

• Strong knowledge of the WordPress platform
• Deep understanding of the WordPress library and other common practices to produce great WordPress-based products
• Develop custom WordPress plugins, modules, and themes
• Ensure your new custom creations work properly in all environments while overcoming conflicts with popular themes and plugins

Responsibilities:

• Meeting with the account team and clients to discuss website design and function
• Designing and programming front-end websites
• Creating website architecture
• Designing and managing the website back-end including database and server integration
• Conducting website performance tests
• Troubleshooting content issues
• Conducting WordPress training with the client
• Monitoring the performance of live websites
• Build custom content modules, themes, and plugins within WordPress
• Keep up-to-date on web developments and trends
• Expand PHP and MySQL experience to better your skillset inside and outside WordPress
• Expand into additional areas as needed like Shopify and API implementation

Qualifications:

• Proven work experience as a WordPress developer
• Knowledge of front-end technologies including CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5, and jQuery
• Knowledge of code versioning tools including Git, Mercurial, and SVN
• Experience working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug
• Good understanding of website architecture and aesthetics
• Ability to manage projects
• Good communication skills
