FINYS is a leading producer of packaged and custom software for the insurance industry (Property and Casualty). Due to growth, we are seeking to add to our staff located in Troy, Michigan.  The accountant will perform standard accounting functions for our group of companies.  In addition the accountant will provide advice to our staff and customers giving them best practices for our software solution.  We work with insurance carriers who engage us to implement policy management solutions offered within our highly successful Finys Insurance Suite. Our system includes features and functions to facilitate insurance policy issuance, claims management, policyholder billing, reinsurance and reports. This is a great opportunity for the accounting professional who would like to do more than standard accounting functions.

• Work with customers describing how our software package processes accounting
• Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts
• Prepare journal entries
• Calculate and make sales tax payments
• Process payroll
• Maintain depreciation sub-ledgers
• Ad hoc reporting

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience
• Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables and charts
• Ability to communicate professionally, both orally and in writing
• Ability to manage private information with a high degree of confidentiality
• Self-starter who can succeed with limited supervision
• Time management skills to support multiple teams and deadlines

Company Description

The Finys Suite is a platform of integrated modules for processing personal and commercial property/casualty insurance. We could have made that sentence and the Suite more complicated. But they don’t need to be. The Suite uses business rules and workflows. It supports insurers, MGAs, MGUs and their distribution channels. It supports policyholders and third-party constituents. It manages the entire insurance lifecycle from policy to claims, from billing to reporting, from portals and mobile access to audit controls. It could do more. But it doesn’t need to.
