ICMS is looking for a Technical Writer I to join our Team in Elizabeth City, NC . Successful candidates will have a minimum of one (1) year of technical writing in a professional setting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

●       A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline: Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism, or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year experience with technical writing

●       Must possess comprehensive written and verbal communication, interpersonal, presentation, analytical, project management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle a large volume of projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

●       Must be highly organized and attentive to detail

●       Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment

●       Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment

●       Ability to engage others to accomplish projects

●       Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization

●       Strong copy editor, with a working knowledge of Chicago Style Manual and AP style user experience/user interface

●       Comfortable with video communication through Zoom

●       Multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines in timely manner

●       Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail

●       Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance

●       Copy edit articles/large reports for a public-facing website about environmental/climate topics, scientific information, recent research, and data products systems documentation, procedures, work instructions, attendant and product manuals in support of manufacturing and engineering functions related to high technology assembly operation

●       Research, write, find images for, and edit social media plans for multiple platforms about same subjects

●       Experience project managing communication plans with both long and short turnarounds

●       Familiarity with photo software programs to create visual communications (i.e. Canva, GettyImages, Pixabay)

●       Recommend best practices for communication, both internal and external, overall organization and layout, modes of presentation, publication methods, and related matters

●       Coordinate with graphic design, translation, and production personnel to meet publication schedules

●       Coordinate publication with outside sources and vendors

●       Lead projects to implement new technology for use by Technical Publications

●       Lead projects to improve departmental processes that require cooperation from other functional groups

●       Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors

●       HTML experience recommended, familiarity with especially with Drupal preferred.
