    12-Month Rotating Veterinary Internship Animal Emergency & Specialty Center Intern Knoxville, TN Posted 2 months ago East Tennessees premier veterinary emergency & specialty hospital Seeking advanced training in Emergency Medicine and Surgery? Train under the guidance of our Emergency and Critical Care specialists, as well as specialists in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Avian and Exotic Medicine. Elective rotations in Shelter Medicine, Integrative Medicine and Acupuncture, Dermatology, and Dentistry can be arranged. In this 12-month veterinary internship at Animal Emergency & Specialty Center, approximately half your time is devoted to primary emergency cases with a myriad of educational opportunities including daily case rounds, didactic rounds, and journal club. The Animal Emergency and Specialty Center is a state-of-the-art facility that opened in 2009 and sees over 12,000 cases annually. We function as both a small animal emergency and critical care hospital and a specialty referral center. Our ultra-modern facility provides a complete array of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, including ICU and mechanical ventilators, pulse oximetry, end tidal CO2 monitoring, Doppler blood pressure monitoring, Snyder O2 cage, digital radiography, two ultrasound units, rigid and flexible endoscopy, Axxent electronic brachytherapy radiation unit, 3 ORs, a complete array of laparoscopic and orthopedic equipment, Thermofield hyperthermia system, chemotherapy pharmacy, chemotherapy biosafety hoods (2), video-microscopy, conference room, GE light speed multi-slice helical CT scanner and off-site MRI capability. In addition, we offer a full in-house laboratory with blood chemistry, blood gas and electrolytes, lactate, and coagulation testing. We are home to a vibrant team that includes a medical oncologist, two surgeons, two internal medicine specialists, five emergency doctors and a dedicated support staff. The AESC is in Knoxville, just an hours drive from the Smoky Mountains and minutes from numerous lakes. Tennessee offers a multitude of outdoor activities including skiing and snowboarding, kayaking, white water rafting, fishing, and countless hiking and biking trails scattered through nearby Smoky Mountain National Park. We do not have state income tax and the cost of living is much lower than most areas of the country. We offer mentorship and training to prepare you for a career in Emergency Medicine or for a future residency program. Upon completion of the internship program, the successful emergency and critical care intern will possess the ability to thoroughly work up, diagnose, and treat complicated emergency and critical care cases. Requirements: * Authorized to work in the USA or hold a valid visa for the entire internship program period * DVM or equivalent degree * If applicable, must have successfully completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification program or the PAVE program * Successfully completed the NAVLE * Successfully completed the Tennessee Board Exam * Licensed in Tennessee prior to the start date of the internship (late June 2017).
