Insero Talent Solutions has partnered with an industry leading real estate and property management company in Rochester, NY to recruit a Senior Tax Accountant.

Position Summary:

The position reports directly to VP of Tax and will be responsible for tax matters, including preparing documentation, compliance testing and analysis, estimates and calculations, tax forms, and tax research.

Responsibilities:

• Preparing taxable income forecasting and dividend requirements to maintain REIT status; annual 1099 reporting.
• Preparing annual and interim tax provisions, workpaper support, and disclosures.
• Preparing REIT due diligence documentation, compliance testing, and analysis.
• Maintaining depreciation records, including tax basis for 1031 exchanges.
• Coordinating preparation of federal and state tax returns and reviewing of tax returns with external tax accountants.
• Preparing tax estimates and extension calculations quarterly and making estimated extensions and return payments.
• Preparing tax forms, including state and local tax, personal property tax, and information reporting.
• Timely responding and resolving tax notices.
• Conducting tax research and documentation.
• Assisting with additional duties and projects as required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA is highly preferred but not required along with a minimum of 3 years of tax experience, preferably in public accounting.
• Strong knowledge and experience in REIT’s and SALT (state and local tax) are required.
• Highly proficient knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple properties.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate information effectively and to communicate with all levels of employees.
• Excellent research, problem solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
