  • Responsibilities

    Insero Talent Solutions is currently recruiting for a Controller (Direct Hire) position for a well-established marketing agency (client of the firm) located in Rochester, NY. The pay ranges based on experience.

    The Controller role is a business partner and key member of the Senior Management Team. The Controller will report to the CEO and will have primary responsibility for planning, implementing, leading, and controlling financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, budgeting and forecasting, compliance, business analytics and managing business partner relationships including vendors.

    Deliverables/reporting

    • Oversee month end close; providing the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow info to internal management team, and banks/third party lenders; and reporting financial status and trends of the business.
    • Providing analysis of historical, current, and projected financial and operating results to develop recommendations for strategy and tactical improvements.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports in order to identify and implement enhancements to business operations.
    • Managing operational processes in client invoicing.
    • Coaching and developing the accounting and finance team members (1.5)
    • Develop credibility for the finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends in order to assist the CEO and other senior executives in performing their responsibilities.
    • Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.

    Cashflow

    • Maintain a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs.
    • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position.

    Budgeting

    • Managing processes for financial forecasting, budgets, and consolidation of financial reporting.
    • Coordinate with department managers on budgeting process and educate on financial issues impacting department budgets.

    Compliance

    • Ensuring effective internal controls are in place and compliance with GAAP
    • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws
    • Complying with rules for financial and tax reporting, including initiatives for determining sales and use tax liability.
    • Handling communications with Shareholders, third party lenders, auditors, external tax authorities, and others as appropriate.
    • Coordinating due diligence for acquisitions and integration of financial and administrative functions for acquired companies.

     

    Qualifications / Requirements

    • Experience working in the Service, Creative, Media, High-Tech, Consulting or Retail industry is preferred.
    • Senior level Finance professional (10+ years’ experience) with excellent track record with ability to operate at both a strategic and day-to-day Financial operations level.
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is strongly preferred.
    • Bachelor of Science in Accounting or similar field (MBA a plus).
    • Proven track record of leading, coaching and developing a finance team.
    • Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a dynamic and diverse team environment.
    • Results orientated, ability to embrace and lead change, think strategically, multi-tasking, strong sense of urgency and excellent problem solver skills are required.
