  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    Operates Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Conducts preflight planning to include mission briefings weather forecasts, Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), Special Instructions (SPINs) and airspace requirements. Evaluates customer's mission requirements and determines operational needs. Coordinates mission specifics with UAS crew and Air Traffic Control (ATC) and reviews Airspace Control Plan and Mission Logs. Executes mission and delivers full motion video and payload data. Completes post-mission reports/logs. May conduct demonstration flights.

    Performs UAS and ground support equipment testing, troubleshooting and maintenance. Coordinates with Company subject matter experts to resolve issues beyond the scope of field maintenance capability. Documents maintenance actions. Conducts inventory of UAS spares/components and reports cycle counts. Conducts on-site formal/informal technical training.

    • Has a full understanding of the job.
    • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to practices and procedures for guidance.
    • Requires no instruction for routine work and general instructions for new lines of work or special assignments; supervision is limited. Participates in determining details of assignments to accomplish a wide range of objectives. Plans, schedules, and arranges own activities. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
    • Errors would normally result in loss of customer business, material, or equipment to resolve
    • Interacts frequently with internal and external personnel and customers. Obtains or provides information on important or sensitive organization matters.

    KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of the processes and activities that provide direct support and services to customers in a field environment. Comprehends the specific contract requirements and the technical aspects of the fielded products or services needed to support and/or service Customer requirements. Applies necessary knowledge to define the communication system, the involved Customer liaison activities, and technical support and service needs.
    • Knowledge of flight vehicle performance characteristics and systems architecture.
    • Ability to apply knowledge of instructional skills (e.g. preparation, delivery, summary, assess student progress, remediation, motivation, engagement, etc.)
    • Ability to understand and apply inventory control and management techniques.
    • Knowledge of operations, environments, and maintenance support concepts.
    • Knowledge of customer, regulatory agency, industry, and company policies, practices, and procedures as they apply to technical documentation, support equipment, part interchangeability, data reliability analysis and data extraction, service related problem resolution and warranty settlement processes, etc. in support of projects and programs.
    • Knowledge of Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV) flight operations procedures.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Associate degree in related discipline and typically 3 or more years of related experience.
