Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Inspector to support municipal infrastructure projects by conducting field inspections and ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
This role plays a key part in maintaining quality, safety, and adherence to construction standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings, plans, and specifications
- Conduct field inspections of construction sites
- Ensure compliance with contract documents and technical requirements
- Verify materials meet project specifications
- Confirm proper notification to residents in affected areas
- Issue correction notices and may serve violation citations
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation
- Research and evaluate plans and drawings
- Prepare and submit technical reports
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Up to 18 months of education or training in inspection or related field preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of journey-level experience in inspection or related field
Preferred Certifications (may be required within 11 months)
- Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, or Occupancy Inspection Certifications
- ICBO, IAPMO, IAEA, or equivalent certifications
- QEI Elevator Inspector Certification (if applicable)
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to review:
- Surveys
- Floor plans
- Site plans
- GIS or mapping systems
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams
- Adobe
Additional Requirements
- Valid Texas Driver's License (may be required)
- Strong customer service skills (phone, in-person, and email)
