    Job Description

    Our client is a well-respected nonprofit organization with an operating budget of below $2MM. Our client’s mission is to reduce the entire cycle of violence by providing a wide range of free support services, from therapy and counseling to court accompaniments and assistance with the legal system, for victims and their families to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of violence. Our client also provides comprehensive and collaborative programs in schools, social service agencies, the courts, and at community sites throughout the city of Philadelphia.

    Development Manager

    The Development Manager is responsible for helping grow and manage the organization’s revenue streams to advance the organization’s mission. In this capacity, the Development Manager oversees the organization’s grants and fundraising, including multiple government grants, private foundation grants, annual giving, donor relationships, fundraising events and campaigns, and other development-related activities. In this deadline-driven role, the primary focus areas of the position are creating, maintaining, and interpreting budgets; managing existing grants, including mandatory financial and programmatic reporting of grants; proposal and report writing, including annual report; coordinating targeted and year-end appeals; prospecting and research of funding opportunities; cultivating new and existing funding relationships; managing fundraising endeavors; and effectively and compellingly communicating the organization’s mission, programming, accomplishments, and needs to external audiences in verbal, written, and digital form. The ideal candidate brings an approach to fundraising that is about charting new courses in addition to following prescribed paths. The Development Manager will report directly to the Executive Director and will work collaboratively with staff and the Board of Directors to understand needs and programming. 

    Qualifications:         ●    Bachelor’s degree required. ●    3-5 years of grant experience and minimum 1-2 years of fundraising experience required. ●    Experience with government grants, especially VOCA, strongly preferred. ●    Experience with Salesforce and/or other CRMs strongly preferred.  ●    Experience with Constant Contact and/or other email marketing software preferred. ●    Experience working for a nonprofit organization. ●    Bilingual candidates (fluent in English and Spanish) are preferred. ●    A commitment to social justice and an enthusiasm for helping people in need. ●    Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and think strategically and creatively. ●    Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, plus the desire to take initiative with consistent and high-quality follow-through. ●    Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, with experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities with professionalism and discretion. ●    Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. ●    Team player with a capacity to collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, and community organizations for successful achievement of position and organization’s mission-driven goals.
