Instana is looking for students to join our engineering team in Austin for the 2020 Summer Internship Program. Our program offers two types of internships that give you the opportunity to work on a product that our customers love.

As a SOFTWARE INTERN, you will partner with our sensors team to create a sensor from inception to production for the Instana platform by:

• Completing research related to the technology you will instrument
• Working with the product manager, technical lead and UX designer to determine project scope, technical design and UI respectively
• Implementing the instrumentation code that runs in the agent, extending our back end stream processing pipeline and implementing the UI for the new sensor

As a SYSTEMS ENGINEERING INTERN, you will partner with a mentor and product manager to work on the nitty gritty details of the Instana platform like code-injection techniques for compiled language runtimes or leveraging eBPF to instrument the Linux kernel. You will be working mostly in C, Rust and x86 assembly language. There is typically a large research component involved with this internship.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering or related area
• Proficiency in at least one programming language
• Eligible to work in the United States
