We seek a new team member to act as a Project Leader to further the Institute for American Apprenticeships at Vermont HITEC's (IAA) social mission to create employment opportunities through apprenticeship and other workforce development programs. Previous program participants are welcome to apply!

As a new Project Leader, we will teach you about our non-profit business and the key role of Project Leader. You will be responsible for assigned apprenticeship programs working in partnership with the Program Instructor and providing mentoring and support to apprenticeship program participants.
LOCATION: Depending on the stage of the individual project, you will be remote or in a traditional office/classroom of an employer-partner. Hours worked will vary while in various stages of the projects, the schedule of classes, and the individual needs of the apprenticeship program participants.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Depending on your home location, travel to employer-partner locations may be required up to 15 weeks in duration, multiple times per year. Expenses, including housing, will be covered.
As Project Leader, you will lead and coordinate all essential tasks associated with the recruitment, training, and apprenticeship phases of an apprenticeship program, including, but not limited to:
Recruitment Phase – Program Outreach & Selection
- Develop the marketing plan within a set budget to advertise the apprenticeship training opportunity to a select demographic area and coordinate the placement of radio/newspaper/social ads.
- Coordinate and answer questions of candidates via phone, email, in-person as they proceed through the recruitment and selection process maintaining applicant data in a database
- Work with IAA and hiring employer-partner to reserve resources and coordinate recruitment and selection events details.
- Prepare materials for selection events in partnership with employer-partner
- Attend and oversee program info session events, including preparing materials, proctoring assessments, and participating in interviews
- Prepare documents and manage enrollment of final list of selected students, compile applicant statistics and track successful sources for applicants.
Education Phase – Training Program
- Attend class as an observer and support Program Instructor's needs, including grading homework submissions, preparing weekly student evaluations using feedback from the Instructor, and generating a daily update for each day of class
- Help facilitate student access to support services (reach-up, WIOA support, and other agency support)
- Meet weekly one-on-one with students to supply feedback and as necessary for immediate feedback needs. Providing mentoring and individualized support as required to help the student succeed.
Apprenticeship Phase
- Attend monthly reviews with apprentices and supervisors to address any behavioral or technical issues with students
- Collect reporting paperwork for grant files, OJT reimbursement, apprenticeship records
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of relevant work (recruitment, human resources, program administration) experience or a combination of education and experience.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, including online social etiquette, to correspond and interact with community members, outside resources, vendors, as well as program applicants and participants, program instructors, and employer-partner representatives
- A mentoring mindset with strong empathetic, interpersonal capabilities to see situations through others' perspectives, build trusting relationships, give feedback, and hold the accountability of others when needed.
- Critical thinking and resourcefulness to be presented with new unique situations, research/propose possible solutions and make a sound judgment for the best outcome.
- Ability to establish and maintain a professional, respectful, and effective working relationship with program participants, program instructors, employer-partner representatives, and colleagues
- High attention to detail and organization capabilities to manage all stages of the project under tight deadlines
- Technology Skills (intermediate) in Microsoft Office (MS Teams, Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint); internet search engines and databases; virtual meeting platforms and program-specific, web-based learning management tools
DESIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

- Completion of a college-level cooperative or apprenticeship program
