The Interviewer Supervisor, a public health professional, is responsible for managing a team of approximately ten (10) Contact Interviewers and/or Case Interviewers.

The Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI) will hire, train and deploy a team of community contact tracing staff across Fairfax County, Virginia who will work as an integrated part of the Fairfax County Health Department COVID-19 response effort. The aim of this will be to call every person in the county with probable or confirmed COVID-19, gather their contacts, and proceed to call every contact in the area. This is in tandem with government efforts to increase testing, improve public communication, and instruct on isolation and quarantine. This will fortify efforts to control the pandemic in Fairfax County.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide supervisory leadership to mediate issues and provide guidance on complex issues that arise during contact/case interviews.
• Support interviewer training activities and conduct quality assurance reviews of interviewers.
  • Accurately enter interview data into a database and follow all County policies and procedures.
  • Consult with supervisors/managers in the Epidemiology Branch of the COVID-19 response to ensure consistency in communications, practices, and decision-making.
  • The Interviewer Supervisor will also perform the functions of team members as needed:
• Case Interviews: Calling individuals with probable or confirmed COVID-19 to gather information such as details about symptoms, exposures, and who they’ve been in contact with;
• Contact Interviews: Calling people who were in contact with individuals with probable or confirmed COVID-19 to assess their symptoms, refer for testing if symptomatic, and enroll in the Monitoring Program;
• Providing information to individuals about the illness, public health guidance on isolation and quarantine protocols, health monitoring, and additional methods of disease prevention and control; and
• Assessing the capability of individuals to comply with isolation protocols, including the self-isolation setting; and identifying and elevating those cases that meet the high priority or high-risk criteria to the Case Investigation Team for additional intervention.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree plus four years of professional health and human services or related work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree or higher in nursing, public health, or related health science field.
• Prior experience in public health, particularly in epidemiology or infectious disease settings.
• Fluency in English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin, Arabic, Urdu, Farsi.
• Prior direct supervisory experience or has demonstrated work experience monitoring and directing the work of others.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position currently requires full-time on-site work at a worksite arranged by the Health Department. Candidates must be proficient in the use of mobile phones, iPads and Microsoft Office applications. For an initial training period, IPHI may ask candidates to use their own technology to participate in virtual training, though accommodations can be made as required. Once onboarded, employees will be provided adequate technology for the on-site work environment.

This is a temporary position in response to needs resulting from COVID-19. This position is designated as essential and is part of the County’s emergency response which operates seven days a week. Shift work may be required with hours during evenings and weekends.

COMPENSATION

$79,600 per annum
