The Institute for Public Health Innovation (IPHI) will hire, train and deploy a team of Community Health Workers across Fairfax County, Virginia who will work as an integrated part of the Fairfax County Health Department COVID-19 response effort.
The Community Health Worker collaborates with contact tracing teams, the Health Department Outreach Team, and the community to provide culturally competent support and communication to individuals and families for following COVID-19 related self-isolation and quarantine protocols. This is achieved through health education; coaching, modeling and reinforcing recommended health messages; and identifying and addressing barriers to programs and services needed to safely self-isolate and quarantine.
The Community Health Worker connects individuals and families in diverse communities to community-based programs, services and resources by utilizing neighborhood or community-level knowledge and familiarity. This includes facilitating access to food, transportation, shelter, physical and mental healthcare, child and elderly care, and other social supports.

Candidates must be able to work both onsite at the health department and in the community.
Candidates must be proficient in the use of mobile phones and computer applications.
Regular access to a vehicle for travel between worksites and communities within Fairfax County is needed.
This is a temporary position in response to needs resulting from COVID-19. This position is designated as essential and is part of the County’s emergency response which operates seven days a week. Shift work may be required with hours during evenings and weekends.
