Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Build meaningful relationships with program youth and their families
Provide educational tools and academic assistance that help increase academic performance
Provide participants with positive adult mentoring and guidance
Facilitate and participate in physical activities that are safe and fun for students
Attend and supervise youth during scheduled program excursions and special events
Seek various learning and development opportunities for students, including guest speakers, workshops and community service activities
Aid in the upkeep and cleanliness of all facilities used by the program
Work with the Director of Students and Community Support Services to develop monthly calendar and workshop curriculum for youth
Register youth in WIOA grants as eligible. Comply with all WIOA program delivery guidelines; collection of student data, including attendance, enrollment documents and quarterly report cards; utilization of required database systems, Career Connect, Salesforce and others as required by agency and or funders
Assist with recruitment of youth by performing outreach during local school parent nights, report card pick-ups and other community events
Refer youth and families to appropriate and necessary social services whether at Instituto or at other community based organizations
Maintain open communication with program coordinator regarding any student issues or concerns
Work cooperatively and in coordination with other staff and Instituto programs
Attend weekly staff meetings, planning, and/or training sessions
Coach participants in the development of a personalized career/ service plan that consists of long and short term goals and time frames
Conduct program orientation (as needed) on a weekly basis
Provide comprehensive employment and job placement case management and coaching
Provide placement assistance to clients and follow-up services to placement, maintaining contact with supervisors and clients for up to 12 months
Serve as liaison with other service providers, schools, support service agencies, and any other institution/ organization involve in the career development equation
Complete accurate, timely, and qualitative program reports in a timely manner
Guide participants through their career exploration process and ITAs and voucher acquisition
Conduct Program Exit Assessment and follow-up
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Some post-secondary education, preferably in the areas of education, youth work or other related fields
Ability to maintain a high sense of confidentiality
Prior experience working with external vendors and client
Able to work with a wide variety of people
Team player willing to take on multiple tasks at once; an independent worker who requires minimal supervision
Exceptional organization and time management skills
Above average “customer” service attitude
Excellent oral and written communication skills; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
Strong ability to maintain composure under pressure
Dependable and punctual
Ability to adhere to deadlines, react to unpredictable events quickly and efficiently, be resourceful, manage conflict and challenges
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the internet
