Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION
The recruiter reports to the principal and is responsible for overseeing much of IHSCA’s outreach initiatives. The recruiter is responsible for recruiting eighth grade students to enroll at Instituto Health Sciences Career Academy (IHSCA) while promoting the school’s mission, curriculum, and student programs. IHSCA’s recruiter determines the best strategy to meet students and families to determine qualification for enrollment and build relationships with elementary school counselors and other important contacts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicating with students and parents with the hopes of convincing graduating eighth graders to enroll at IHSCA
Calling and interviewing prospective students
Achieving and upholding enrollment standards while following IHSCA regulations
Developing cooperative and constructive relationships with grade schools, organizations, and public institutions to distribute material, conduct presentations, and meet with students
Providing examples of tasks or projects that can be completed independently and with department staff
Handling multiple tasks under pressure, while utilizing strong management, time coordination and planning skills to meet goals
Developing and implementing an annual recruitment strategy plan in keeping with CPS procedure
Attending high school fairs to distribute admissions information and invitations to open houses
Coordinating and executing the student recruitment process including overseeing open houses, application revision, and student enrollment
Collecting records of prospective and newly enrolled students in database
Following up phone calls to confirm open house attendees
Mailing out acceptance and waiting list correspondence to prospective families and ensuring all families submit intake documentation regarding enrollment in a timely manner
Coordinating projections with elementary schools for all new incoming students
Requesting student records from elementary and middle schools
Processing accurate information of enrollment applications and inputting master schedule into PowerSchool/IMPACT
Completing all reports required by CPS
Making sure all required documents (acceptance letter, medical forms, dental forms, lunch forms, etc.) are completed by student’s parents and in school possession by deadline
Updating and maintaining school web-site and social media in a timely manner
Knowledge of school mission, curriculum, and extracurricular opportunities
Other duties as assigned
Answering phone calls, transferring calls to appropriate person/department, handling immediate calls
Welcoming IHSCA visitors, guests, and parents by providing excellent customer service
Providing notification of guests/visitors in a timely manner to staff and faculty
Documenting and verifying early dismissals
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors’ degree in marketing, communications, or closely related field preferred
At least one year of experience in customer service, marketing, advertising, sales, or school admissions
Positive work ethic and willingness to accept accountability and responsibility for individual actions
Ability to work equally well as an team member and as an independent individual with minimal supervision
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to work with a diverse variety of people
Exceptional organization and time management skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the Internet
Dependability and punctuality
Ability to adhere to deadlines and effectively manage unpredictable events and changes
Ability to drive and have own mode of transportation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires an ability to speak in front of groups of various sizes and operate standard office equipment. Also requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, as well as collect and compile files and work documents. Approximately half of the time spent on the job will be standing. Lifting of objects weighing up to 20 pounds may be required.
