The Sports Academy of Wellington seeks a dedicated and compassionate Instructional Support Teacher to oversee and guide middle school and/or high school students as they complete their core and elective academic coursework online. This unique position focuses on student support, mentorship, and academic oversight, enabling student-athletes to thrive in a flexible learning environment tailored to their sporting commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor student progress and engagement in online academic courses, including both core and elective subjects.
Provide individualized support, encouragement, and academic coaching to students, helping them stay on track with assignments and assessments.
Facilitate communication between students and online instructors, assisting in addressing questions or concerns related to course material.
Ensure accountability for attendance, participation, and timely completion of coursework.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and academy staff regarding student progress and areas requiring additional support.
Assist students in developing effective study habits, time management skills, and strategies for academic success within an online learning model.
Coordinate and supervise designated study sessions or academic check-ins, fostering a supportive and focused environment.
Collaborate with academy staff to uphold the standards and mission of the Sports Academy of Wellington and support student well-being.
Address challenges or obstacles encountered by students in online learning, providing guidance or connecting them with additional resources.
Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and communication.
Position Details
No lesson planning required.
Dedicated to providing instructional support and oversight, not direct instruction.
Works primarily with students enrolled in online academic programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or related field (Required).
Experience working with middle school and/or high school students.
Familiarity with online learning platforms and virtual academic environments.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate and support student-athletes in balancing academics and athletics.
Demonstrated commitment to student success and well-being.
