Position Title: Instructor Support Person
Location: Joint Base San Antonio
Contract Type : Non-Personnel Services Contract
Overview: This position is part of a non-personnel services contract to provide Advisory and Program Management Support at the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC). The Instructor Support Person (ISP) will work under the contractor's supervision and will not be directly supervised by the Government. The ISP will provide essential support to the Faculty, Staff, and Student Development (FSSD) program, which offers education and training services to active duty and reserve service members from all military branches.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Support:
* Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in curriculum development, utilizing the ISD/SAT Models: ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate).
* Provide guidance to METC staff on curriculum development, addressing issues related to organization, administration, review, development, analysis, and overall effectiveness.
* Ensure accurate dissemination of technical information using sound educational techniques.
* Develop and use follow-up surveys to evaluate work performance and improve curriculum quality.
- Instructional Guidance:
* Offer advice, counsel, and suggestions to instructors to enhance the quality of curriculum delivered to students.
* Assist in developing new and innovative instructional approaches to facilitate student learning.
* Provide training programs to teaching staff on curriculum development techniques and strategies.
- Program Evaluation and Improvement:
* Assist in the development and evaluation of curriculum, incorporating new concepts and technology.
* Maintain manpower and logistical requirements to ensure an adequate training environment that meets military and accreditation guidelines.
* Evaluate student attrition rates and recommend corrective actions to improve student outcomes.
* Screen prerequisites for component services to ensure proper academic preparation for incoming students.
- Performance Standards and Reporting:
* Develop performance standards for curriculum development programs, establishing program goals and standards.
* Annually report evaluations and recommended solutions to the Instructional Delivery Department (IDD) Associate Dean.
* Monitor and stay abreast of the latest techniques and strategies related to curriculum development, including educational technology innovations.
- Consultation and Training:
* Serve as a consultant on training literature and develop requirements and programs for training staff on appropriate curriculum development techniques.
* Review and evaluate component service policies and procedures to improve student learning through effective curriculum development.
- Briefings and Communication:
* Plan and schedule student and staff briefings related to curriculum development.
* Document the effectiveness of briefings through communication, feedback, and surveys.
Qualifications:
- Expert knowledge of curriculum development models, particularly ADDIE.
- Experience in developing and evaluating educational programs.
- Strong communication and advisory skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with METC staff and other stakeholders.
- Familiarity with military training environments and accreditation guidelines is preferred.
Background: METC is the largest military medical education and training facility in the world, resulting from the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission legislation. It co-locates enlisted technical medical training for the Army, Air Force, and Navy at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. METC offers 48 medical training programs and graduates over 21,000 students annually.
Objectives:
- Assist in developing plans, programs, and procedures.
- Draft reports and provide reviews, evaluations, and recommendations on specialized subjects.
- Conduct coordination efforts with program sponsors, management, technical personnel, support organizations, and outside agencies.
- Supplement METC Faculty and Staff's knowledge and expertise in instructional delivery processes, curriculum development, and academic counseling. ****
