    Job Summary

    We're looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Estimator who thrives in both the insurance restoration and commercial estimating environments. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and has a proven track record as an Estimator.

    Responsibilities

    Prepare detailed estimates using Xactimate based on inspection reports, scope notes, and documentation

    Draft and submit supplement requests with supporting materials (photos, code references, manufacturer documentation)

    Communicate directly with insurance adjusters via email, phone, and portal uploads to negotiate and resolve claims

    Collaborate with project managers and office team to ensure all supplements are logged, tracked, and followed up

    Help train internal team on how to prepare and explain supplements as needed

    Determine the key variables for cost and conduct research to determine expected labor and materials costs

    Gather comp and sub bids when required and negotiate with service providers to secure the best possible prices

    Budget and forecast using appropriate software

    Qualifications Insurance Claims (Residential & Commercial):

    Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field

    Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) is preferred

    Previous experience as an Estimator is preferred

    Ability to forecast building costs and knowledge of estimation formulas

    Strong mathematical and analytical skills

    Skilled in relevant software (Timberline, HCSS HeavyBid)

    Excellent research, writing, and negotiation skills

    Commercial Estimating:

    Prepare and review commercial bids, proposals, and takeoffs (labor, materials, subcontractor quotes)

    Develop project scopes, timelines, and cost breakdowns for multi-phase commercial jobs

    Coordinate with designers, PMs, engineers, and vendors during bid development

    Attend commercial walkthroughs and pre-bid meetings when required

    Qualifications

    3+ years of experience in insurance claims estimating and/or commercial construction estimating

    Proficient in Xactimate (Level 2 preferred), and understanding of insurance supplement process

    Familiar with IBC, IRC, local codes, and commercial bid standards

    Strong communication skills, especially with adjusters and carrier representatives

    Knowledge of building materials, assemblies, and trade sequencing

    Experience working in a CRM (Leap experience a plus)

    High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

    Preferred Traits

    Experience estimating roofing, exterior, structural, and finish trades

    Comfortable working closely with PMs, office teams, and executive leadership

    Proactive mindset: doesn’t wait for instruction—asks the right questions

    Ability to write clear, professional letters (e.g., supplement narratives)

    Comfortable navigating ambiguity in insurance carrier responses
