Position Summary:
The Insurance & Risk Specialist supports the company's risk mitigation efforts across insurance lines, fleet safety, facilities, indirect procurement, and related compliance initiatives. This role involves collaborating with internal departments, brokers, and vendors to manage claims, monitor insurance coverage and compliance, and ensure accurate documentation and audits. The ideal candidate demonstrates a high level of organization, attention to detail, and proactive communication.
Essential Duties:
• Manage insurance and bond documentation requests, including COIs and bond requests.
• Oversee preparation for insurance policy audits (GL, WC, Auto, etc.), including gathering required documentation such as payroll reports, fixed asset lists, fleet information (VINs, locations, total vehicle count), and claim summaries.
• Track and analyze loss runs to identify trends, coverage gaps, and recommend changes with brokers and finance teams.
• Maintain internal databases (Risk Master, broker contacts, COI records) and assist with premium allocation by department or P&L.
• Collaborate on policy renewals to ensure coverage adequacy and cost optimization.
• Manage OCIP/Wrap-up enrollments and compliance, including documentation collection and recordkeeping for year-end audits.
• Conduct fuel and travel expenditure reviews to detect potential fuel fraud through data compilation and analysis.
• Monitor MVRs and support safety and training programs (e.g., SambaSafety, GeoTab, dashcams).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree, pursuing a degree, or equivalent experience in business, risk management, insurance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in insurance administration, risk coordination, or similar roles.
• Proficiency with Excel and data analysis tools; ability to review and analyze expenditure data.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple audits, timelines, and priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in working cross-functionally across departments and with external partners.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Regular periods of sitting or standing may be required by this position. In addition, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel should be expected with this role as well.
