    Position Overview

    We’re seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Intake Specialist to serve as the first point of contact for individuals seeking services at JBNC. In this role, you’ll assess needs, provide program information, and connect neighbors to the right resources to support their goals.

    This position plays a key role in our two-generation (2Gen) approach—helping both children and their families access services that support education, financial stability, health, and overall well-being.

    What You’ll Do

    • Conduct initial assessments to understand neighbor needs and determine eligibility for services
    • Collect and maintain accurate, confidential records of interactions and services provided
    • Connect neighbors to internal programs and external community resources
    • Provide clear and helpful information about JBNC services and partner organizations
    • Enter and manage data in internal systems, ensuring accuracy and timely documentation
    • Follow up with neighbors to ensure successful connections to services
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate referrals
    • Participate in outreach efforts and community events to promote available services
    • Support continuous improvement by contributing to program development and evaluation

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor’s degree preferred or 3–5 years of related experience)
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds with empathy and professionalism
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to assess needs and identify appropriate resources or referrals
    • Basic technology skills and ability to learn systems (Outlook, Teams, databases, etc.)
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate documentation

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Near Eastside community resources and demographics
    • Experience in social services, case management, or community-based work
    • Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to service delivery
    • Experience working with individuals in crisis or with special needs

    Work Environment & Schedule

    • Full-time, exempt position
    • On-site at John Boner Neighborhood Centers
    • Typical schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional flexibility based on program needs
