  • Responsibilities

    The Plant Production Technician is responsible for carrying out the production of protein meal, an ingredient in dry pet foods, at an Integrated Proteins facility. Aspects of production include obtaining samples, conducting inspections on dry vans and bulk hopper trailers, loading and unloading bulk and toted products, and cleaning and maintaining production equipment. We are hiring for two shifts for this position. • Weekday 1st - 6:00 am to 2:30 pm • Weekday 2nd - 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm • Weekend Nights - 6:00 pm to 6:30 am Responsibilities: • Use a scissor lift to obtain samples from bulk hopper trailers using a 15-foot rod weighing up to 15 pounds • Open hopper doors on bulk hopper trailers and facilitate unloading by swinging an 8-10 pound rubber mallet to shake product loose from the hoppers • Operate and front-end loader to scoop product into the mixer, hoppers, and bays • Operate load-out system to load bulk hopper trailers and super sacks • Monitor the processing system to ensure there are no issues with equipment or product • Conduct inspections on bulk hopper trailers for inbound and outbound loads • Collect samples from the production line and transport them to the lab for analyses • Complete all paperwork associated with trailer inspections • Sweep the facility floor with a floor sweeper • Use compressed air to clean super sacs and the facility • Utilize a dump cart to weigh and empty products from production streams into designated areas • Complete all required food safety, cGMP, and OSHA training as assigned • Complete all paperwork associated with product movements • Apply labels to super sacks • Load-covered bulk hopper rail cars • Unload covered bulk hopper rail cars • Clean magnets and other processing equipment according to cGMPs and SOPs • Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and comply with all food safety and safety rules and procedures • Wear and maintain the required protective clothing and equipment including safety glasses, steel-toe safety shoes, and a hard hat. At times, additional protective clothing may be needed • Report any issues with safety or food safety to supervisor manager on duty • Other duties as assigned Qualifications: • High school diploma, general education degree, or equivalent • Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist frequently • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from waist to crown occasionally • Ability to shovel up to 50 pounds of animal protein and toss it approximately 3 feet • Ability to frequently climb ladders and walk up several flights of stairs • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift. The work schedule may be over 8 hours per day • Ability to push or pull up to 50 pounds • Ability to kneel, crouch, or bend to complete an assignment • Ability to work overhead • Ability to work in hot or cold temperatures • Personable and attentive • Able to multi-task • Attention to detail • Punctual • Ability to withstand confined spaces • Ability to work safely at height Compensation: $21 - $24 hourly
