    Report to the SPD Manager of Central Sterile Processing and under the supervision of the SPD Coordinator, the Central sterile technician 1 is responsible for the sterile processing of instruments and equipment. Performs duties necessary to support effective functions in decontamination, inspection, processing and assembling, sterilization, storage and distributing sterile trays and supplies utilized for patient care areas. Accurately completes OR and SPD record keeping in compliance with all hospital policy & procedure, and all regulatory regulations. Receives, inspects, counts, and signs for incoming and or outgoing supplies and equipment. Performs all other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    1. Ability to read and write in the English language.

    2. Verbal and written communication skills.

    3. Good Organizational skills.

    4. Basic Computer skills.

    5. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

    6. Demonstrated knowledge of basic principles of sterilization and aseptic technique.

    Required Experience

    1. LA City fire card within 6 months of employment

    2. High School Diploma / GED 3) Must be a graduate of a state approved, accredited school of Surgical Technology or Central Service, preferred

    Condition upon Hire Obtain IAHCSMM / CBSPD certification within 12 months of hire and maintain thru-out employment.

    1. Preferred 2 year experience minimum in an OR/SPD environment in a acute hospital setting.
