About Brothers Building A Better Nation (BBABN)
Brothers Building A Better Nation (BBABN) is a Newark-based nonprofit organization providing trauma-informed, community-centered behavioral health services to children, youth, and families through New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care (CSOC). BBABN delivers Intensive In-Community (IIC) Therapy and Behavioral Assistance with a strong emphasis on healing-centered engagement, family-driven care, and strengthening community stability.
BBABN serves only youth and families located in Essex County, New Jersey.
Position Summary
The Intensive In-Community (IIC) Clinician – Clinician Level provides short-term, home- and community-based psychotherapy to children and adolescents authorized through PerformCare under New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care. The clinician works directly with youth and families to address emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges, support stabilization, and prevent higher levels of care.
This role requires strong clinical skills, comfort working in community settings, collaboration with system partners, and consistent, timely documentation. This is a 1099 independent contractor position.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Service Delivery
Provide face-to-face Intensive In-Community therapy in youth homes and approved community settings throughout Essex County
Deliver goal-driven, clinically appropriate interventions aligned with the youth’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP)
Address emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, family communication, and stabilization needs
Maintain professional boundaries and safety awareness in community-based environments
Assessment & Clinical Planning
Complete Biopsychosocial (BPS) Assessments when authorized
Utilize assessment findings to inform treatment planning and service recommendations
Obtain and maintain CANS/IMDS certification as required by CSOC
Care Coordination & Collaboration
Participate in Child & Family Team (CFT) meetings
Collaborate with Care Management Organizations (CMOs), Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS), schools, and other providers
Communicate effectively with families and system partners to support continuity of care
Documentation & Compliance
Complete all progress notes within 24 hours of each session
Accurately complete encounters and link services to active authorizations in athenaOne
Ensure documentation meets CSOC, Medicaid, HIPAA, and BBABN standards
Adhere to all mandated reporting and ethical requirements
Required Qualifications
Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field
Active New Jersey clinical license:
LCSW
LPC
LMFT
Licensed Psychologist (PhD or PsyD)
Eligibility to provide services under New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care
Active, clean driver’s license and reliable transportation
Ability to travel throughout Essex County only
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within New Jersey’s Children’s System of Care
Experience providing in-home or community-based therapy
Familiarity with PerformCare, CMOs, MRSS, and CYBER
Training in trauma-informed care, family systems, SEL, or child/adolescent therapy
