    About the job

    IKEA has centralized operations for import/export purposes in Customs Operations Support Centers (COSC). This position will be to facilitate efficiency and control of the import/export operations assigned to the Americas. The centralized activities include, but are not limited to handling of customs related certificates and documents, customs entry writing and validation activities, import clearance monitoring, control and payment of customs and brokerage bills as well as post entry controls. In addition, the Support Centers provide audit, process development support.

    About the assignment
    Being a Customs Operations Specialist at IKEA involves a variety of different tasks and each day may be different. Your main tasks will include:

    • Daily analysis and validation of import documentation and data to ensure they are in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations prior to entry submission to Broker and ensure timely release from Customs Authorities
    • Manage customs security filings (ISF) in adherence to internal procedures and latest customs regulations
    • Prepare customs entries via in house systems for transmission to external service providers and follow-up with the clearance process on all entries prepared. Applies for imports and exports for assigned country.
    • Identify, follow up and take action on inaccuracies and deviations
    • Secure compliance in every customs declaration. Perform analysis, investigations and resolutions as necessary to ensure entry compliance and timely clearance
    • Work closely with other IKEA units, external service providers and authorities to deliver high level of service where IKEA standards are not met
    • Contribute to a constant development and enhancement of the processes
    • Preform gap analysis on what could be improved in the process
    • Maintains competence and knowledge of regulations and ensures complete compliance with all legal requirements and corporate policies and procedures for imports into North and South America
    • Maintain competence about which information are used in the systems applications
    • Respond to Broker request, resolve operational issues, handle and solve incidents
    • Responsible for updating desk top standard operation procedures and working routines for your assigned tasks and/or countries
    • Secure that you reach yours and the department's goals
    • Support to your local partners in the countries that you work with

    About you
    You are eager to learn and have interest in Supply Chain and Logistics related topics. You enjoy working with others in a diverse and global environment and work professionally with others in your team.

    To be successful in this role, the following knowledge, skills and experiences would be valuable:

    • University degree required or equivalent work experience
    • Three or more years’ experience in a Customs brokerage environment is a plus
    • Customs Brokerage License is a plus
    • Preferred experience in logistics or supply chain
    • Good ability to document and communicate in a clear way regarding manuals and working methods
    • Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational and problem solving skills
    • Strong PC skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Access) at an intermediate or advanced level
    • Must be able to work independently but contribute to the whole of the team
    • Ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with stakeholders and foreign origins
