Job Description
Interco has an opening for a SOFTWARE ENGINEER-COMPUTER PROGRAMMING INTERNSHIP in the IT Department. This intern works with other members of the IT department and outside contractors to code, develop, update, and manage the Interco proprietary programs and more than 50 websites. THIS IS NOT A SUMMER INTERNSHIP.
Together with the IT Administrator and the Webmaster, this person will help design and create software programs while integrating systems and software. The right candidate will help modify the source-code of existing proprietary Interco software and learn to write system instructions and assist with the training of on premises end-users.
The coding languages utilized at Interco include CSS, PHP, Python, HTML, Java, and JavaScript, among others. The Software Engineer/Computer Programming Intern should be familiar with Access and MySQL as well as Apache Spark, SSH, and XHTML. This intern will assist the IT team to help debug programs and maintain operating systems. The right candidate must have at least a basic understanding of Linux and general IT security.
This position requires acute attention to detail and the ability to stay focused to troubleshoot existing code and communicate issues with others in the IT department including the IT Administrator and Webmaster. The right candidate will have an analytical mind and an understanding of technology infrastructures using CSS, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Web-Proxy and Security Audits. Top candidates are expected to display attention to detail and problem-solving skills and the desire to work hard and contribute while learning in a fast-paced environment.
The Software Engineer/Computer Programming Intern should be able to work well in a team, collaborating with managers, designers, writers, etc. and be a detail-oriented person eager to learn. This person should demonstrate the ability to follow clear instructions and an interest in improving existing coding skills while learning new strategies and, perhaps, languages while gaining hands-on experience with computers, networking, and peripherals.
