Assistant Network Administrator -- Greater St. Louis Area
Job Description
The Assistant Network Administrator works as part of the IT department under the supervision of the Sr. Network Administrator to provide computer and technology support to company employees. The IT department helps ensure that the company network is functioning properly and up to date from top to bottom. The position requires a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to follow clear instructions and experience working with computers, networking, and peripherals.
Qualified candidates should have earned a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related degree or possess technical training and on-the-job experience. Knowledge of computer networking systems and computer hardware is essential as the Assistant Network Administrator will work with the Network Administrator to troubleshoot network systems and computer hardware and make repairs as needed. Candidates should have knowledge of and/or certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or Oracle.
The IT department writes and manages several in-house programming solutions as well as automation to help make company processes and departments more efficient. When called upon, the IT staff supports the ITAD division which inspects, grades, sorts, and packages computers, parts, and peripherals by wiping drives, installing operating systems, checking functionality of equipment to be recycled and repurposed, and packaging, as necessary.
The Assistant Network Administrator should be able to work well as part of a team to help support the maintenance and supervision of more than a dozen servers, a 120+ GPU mining rig, 30+ users and workstations, a department-managed VOIP phone system, 75+ camera closed-circuit security system, proprietary software, redundant fiber, and a diesel generator capable of sustaining power o-site for more than 30 days.
