    Job Description

    The Assistant Network Administrator works as part of the IT department under the supervision of the Sr. Network Administrator to provide computer and technology support to company employees. The IT department helps ensure that the company network is functioning properly and up to date from top to bottom. The position requires a detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to follow clear instructions and experience working with computers, networking, and peripherals.

    Qualified candidates should have earned a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a related degree or possess technical training and on-the-job experience. Knowledge of computer networking systems and computer hardware is essential as the Assistant Network Administrator will work with the Network Administrator to troubleshoot network systems and computer hardware and make repairs as needed. Candidates should have knowledge of and/or certifications from Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, or Oracle.

    The IT department writes and manages several in-house programming solutions as well as automation to help make company processes and departments more efficient. When called upon, the IT staff supports the ITAD division which inspects, grades, sorts, and packages computers, parts, and peripherals by wiping drives, installing operating systems, checking functionality of equipment to be recycled and repurposed, and packaging, as necessary.

    The Assistant Network Administrator should be able to work well as part of a team to help support the maintenance and supervision of more than a dozen servers, a 120+ GPU mining rig, 30+ users and workstations, a department-managed VOIP phone system, 75+ camera closed-circuit security system, proprietary software, redundant fiber, and a diesel generator capable of sustaining power o-site for more than 30 days.

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Service and resolve hardware, software and system functionality and configuration
    • Monitor, upgrade, and service servers, desktops, laptops, remote workstations, and peripherals
    • Respond and prioritize company helpdesk tickets related to hardware, software, and operations functionality
    • Effectively manage the resolution of assigned IT issues within acceptable service levels and sufficient timeframe
    • Identify and solve issues using a variety of methods including SSH, WHM, web interfaces, event logs and product support
    • Perform both basic and advanced repairs on computer hardware
    • Build and troubleshoot Windows and Linux Servers, Web Servers, and Domain Controllers
    • Resolve issues with database management, operating system configuration, and server-side applications
    • Troubleshoot Exchange and mail spam filtering servers in a hybrid environment
    • Perform routine hardware and software upgrades and performance fine-tuning
    • Overhaul and recalibrate workstations and associated hardware
    • Monitor network, web and security applications
    • Configure user settings during installation, onboarding and transfers.
    • Provision VOIP phone systems using PBX SIP Provisioning of devices and users
    • Help with data analysis, systems migration, and upgrades.
    • Assist with the direction and management of department interns

    The Asst. Network Administrator may also work on other projects as needed.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science, IT, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, Computer Networking, or a related qualification preferred
    • Must be mechanically inclined with some experience with computers
    • Should have experience with command line PowerShell experience
    • Experience dealing with end users in an enterprise technical support environment is ideal
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to troubleshoot website issues in a fast-paced environment
    • Working knowledge of programming languages and operating systems
    • Experience with PHP, Access, MySQL, Java/JavaScript, and Python is preferred.
    • Knowledge of website management tools
    • Expertise working with cPanel and WHM preferred
    • Strong PC keyboarding skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
    • Some experience with MX records and hosted email security preferred
    • Experience with O365 is required
    • Must be naturally driven to produce high quality results with great care
    • Diligent attitude and punctuality is required

    • Salary $45,000-55,000 commensurate on experience and qualifications
