  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The IT Intern works together with the IT Administrator and Technicians to provide hardware, software, and networking support to company employees. This intern will assist in the monitoring and management of company websites which are hosted on-site and managed in-house. The IT department also writes and manages a number of in-house programming solutions and automation to help make company processes and departments more efficient.

    This position requires a detail-oriented person eager to learn with the ability to follow clear instructions and an interest in computers, networking, and peripherals.

     RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Helping install, operate, and maintain computer networks and communication systems
    • Performing basic tests on computer hardware
    • Installing hard drives, memory, and CPUs into computers
    • Configuring hardware and software
    • Perform both basic and advanced repairs on computer hardware
    • Setting up computer workstations and peripherals
    • Monitoring company hardware and software
    • Research hardware, software, solutions as needed
    • Installation of network hardware, software, and cables
    • Programming in Python, PHP, Java/JavaScript, C/C#?C++
    • Assisting with company WordPress

    The IT Intern may also work on other projects as needed.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Understanding of computer hardware and software

    • Applicants should be currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Networking, Information Sciences, Computer Programming, or a related field
    • Must be mechanically inclined with some experience with computers
    • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
    • Candidate should have experience with networking equipment
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)
    • Desire to learn about hardware, wiring, networking, software, and website optimization
    • Programming experience preferred
    • Diligent attitude and punctuality
    • Must be naturally driven to produce high quality results with great care
    • Recent graduates with degrees in Computer Sciences or related fields may be eligible as well.

    Additional Information

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ABILITIES

    • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
    • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance
    • Regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs.

     OTHER

    • Pay rate: $8-10 / hour
    • Consistent work schedule 20-40 hours/week
    • Term of internship 2-3 months
    • This position does not offer healthcare benefits
    • This position is open to local students only
