    Outreach Language Specialist (Armenian)

    **Position will be based out of the Chatsworth and/or Antelope Valley offices.

    SCOPE:

    • The Outreach Language Specialist will work with clients and families whose primary language is other than English.
    • The specialist will serve as a translator/interpreter, and a community liaison for those families and consumers served by the Center.
    • Outreach Language Specialist will be connecting, collaborating, and building connections in person and/or virtually with entities, such as community centers, cultural centers, places of worship, etc.

    SUPERVISION:

    • Receives general supervision from the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Supervisor

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (These are examples of the types of duties that may be performed. Additional duties may be added.)

    • Initiates and responds to consumer, family, service provider, and outside agency communications regarding accessing regional center services.
    • Respond to consumers and families in the community to address barriers and connect to resources; collaborate with case management on identified needs.
    • Conducts advocacy and trainings in the community on regional center services.
    • Collect input received from the community and provide feedback to the management on issues and concerns.
    • Attend workshops, meetings, and other related activities to encourage and support consumer and family involvement
    • Assists with literacy initiatives, community outreach events, and other multicultural initiatives sponsored by the Center.

    EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:

    Knowledge:

    • Developmental or related disabilities and social services.

    Skills:

    • Customer service, advocacy and relationship building experience, and a strong understanding of regional center services and community resources.
    • Must work successfully with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Applications
    • Bilingual Armenian/English is required.

    Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field.
    • Frequent telephone and out-of-office in person meetings required.
    • Valid CDL and reliable transportation, required.
